Asbestos is a deadly poison
Asbestos exposure, often called asbestos poisoning is very serious.
In many cases in the early and mid 1900s, asbestos was used in building
and construction materials. When pieces or fibers of asbestos came
off, workers would be exposed to asbestos.
Asbestos poisoning causes many deadly diseases including asbestoisis,
mesothelioma and other types of heart, lung and intestinal cancers.
Unfortunately, many workers were not warned of asbestos poisoning
and the direct link between mesothelioma and asbestos poisoning
was not proven until the late to early 1970s.

By then, tens of thousands of workers had been exposed
to deadly asbestos. Many of the victims were diagnosed and
passed away within 6 months of diagnosis due to the long latency
period of asbestos poisoning. Treatments and diagnosis to
this day for poisoning are quite tough as many of the early
and mid-symptoms are close to that of more common diseases.
However, much is being done in educating asbestos workers
of asbestos poisoning. In addition, the government and private
companies of funded many clinical trials that hopefully will
one day provide a cure or advanced treatment options for asbestos
poisoning victims.

There are also many support groups in both the United States
and Canada. Here, asbestos poisoning victims learn about the latest
news, treatments and support one another through their struggles.
